Lotsa answers to that one. The proven reserves are only about 25 years worth, but there are big discoveries coming up. Best guess is 40 to 50 years of east to get stuff. Tar sands, oil sands and oil shales could add centuries more, but is hard and expensive to recover. They also make synthetic fuel from coal and natural gas.
In other words, we won't run out of fossil fuel soon, but it will get more expensive money wise and enviromental wise.How long is the world's known supply of oil expected to last at the present rate of use?
There is no such thing as a ';known supply of oil';. For political reasons, the supply of oil is believed (by government officials) to be increasing at a rate equal to or greater than the world demand for it.
Not surprising, from a group that also proposed the value of pi to be revised to 3.00 exactly.....................
