What if our oil supply was to be disrupted. How would we fare? Remember 1970 when OPEC had the oil embargo.?

There's a ';tipping point'; for people and their budgets and patience. There's also a ';tipping point'; for countries faced with an economic and social implosion created by artificial manipulation of the energy market. A country with the military wherewithall might begin to consider OPEC countries and their policies to withold oil from the market as an aggressive act intended to wreck said country's economic stability. Rather than face a depression to rival that of the 1930's, that country, and its population, would have little remorse about ';opening up'; the oil flow by any means necessary. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The major oil producers should be mindful that the western goose that lays their golden eggs could easily morph into a cornered lion that will show no restraint in protecting its ';pride';.What if our oil supply was to be disrupted. How would we fare? Remember 1970 when OPEC had the oil embargo.?
We have the S.P.R. 700/milllion barrels of oil baby!!!!! We produce 8/million barrels per day domestically. So we would tap 12/million from the SPR to keep even and not feel any effects. Assuming Congress would allow it. Since really, it also needs to be used by the Military in case of war. We don't want our Navy, Air Force, Army, etc stuck when the enemies of America decided to strike.
We'd be royally screwed and it would probably mean that Obama would be known as the Depression President. I certainly wouldn't want that job right now.

Why do you think we went to war with Iraq? Fighting terrorists or supporting democracy? Let's get our heads out of the sand people.
