Should the US permit much more offshore drilling to increase our domestic supply of oil?

US drivers are irate that the price of gas is rising so high.

Testifying before congress, Robert Malone, chairman of BP America, said that 85 percent of the country's coastal waters are off limits to drilling.

We should do it for the fact that America needs a secure supply of oil. And we should ignore people who are against nuclear energy.

We have enough oil off the shores of California and the Gulf of Mexico to run this country for decades without importing a single drop of oil.Should the US permit much more offshore drilling to increase our domestic supply of oil?
It won't increase domestic supply by that much and the cost to employ labor and conduct drilling in the US will offset most potential reductions in price by tapping domestic oil.

Otherwise I'd be all for it.
No, we should live in a cave and complain about it being dark.
No, it really wouldn't increase supply by very much. It would basically be like applying a bandage rather than fixing the problem. Besides, we should save it for real emergencies, like embargoes.
Yes....we should stop listening to green tree huggers. We do need to have many safety measures in place. The animal rights people are demented. Al Gore is dememted. We need to keep politics and science separate. Scientists have lost the right to think as scientists. We are ignoring the most intelligent people in the world and listening to emotional and power hungry individuals.
Damage to Environment. Bill to prevent this and military damage to the Environment do to wars like the one being fought in Iraq.
I agree with a Bush family member!
We either do that or face the constant increase in fuel with no end in site. Along with the drilling. congress needs to insist that oil companies increase refinery capacity.
