What is going on with the reports about the damage Ike did to our oil supply and gas supply?

I dont know about the rest of you, but after Ike hit texas, reports were made that there wasnt any damage done to the oil we had there nor to the gas storage facilities. Gee almost three weeks later the media is now reporting all the damage that is done...UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! These major oil companies wont stop at anything to make their billions.What is going on with the reports about the damage Ike did to our oil supply and gas supply?

The reports are very very wrong. For once the media is actually telling the truth. A friend of mine works in a refinery. She was part of the team responsible for getting the refinery shut down before Ike made landfall. The refinery where she works was nearly destroyed. And the related storage facilities received massive damage. She works for ';big oil';. Everyone who worked at that refinery was laid off until further notice because a crew has to repair all the damage to both the refinery and storage units. The refinery can not be made operational at full capacity until all the damage is repaired.
This is one of the TOO MANY REASONS Why- we need to get OFF Our Oil Dependency... And start finding alternative sources of Energy. Hopefully once Obama gets into Office- we won't keep getting jerked-around by the Big Oil Companies- every time a Hurricane passes through the Gulf of Mexico! :(
Some people seem to think big oil is somehow less honest than big corn. Or big wind. Or any other huge energy corporations. Large corporations do what they do for money. Naive people think one is somehow worse than the others.
