I don't know what you call it on that side of the pond, but over here heating oil is the same makeup as #2 diesel fuel. Heating oil just has a staining agent added so it can't be used in diesel vehicles and avoid paying the road taxes. If you're in that much of a pickle, you can use the vehicle fuel, it just costs 20-30% more.
